Before becoming a Licensed Real Estate Broker and founder of Pen Realty, my world was filled with music. I trained as a tenor, performed on stage, and later became a music teacher, sharing the gift of discipline, creativity, and performance with my students.
While music and real estate may seem like different paths, the truth is the lessons I learned on stage and in the classroom continue to guide the way I serve my Brooklyn clients every day.
As a tenor, I spent hours perfecting my craft. As a teacher, I instilled in students the importance of showing up, practicing daily, and striving for excellence. That same commitment carries into real estate. Every seller consultation, buyer strategy, and marketing plan is built on careful preparation—pulling comps, studying market trends, and anticipating next steps—so my clients are never caught off guard.
Great musicians don’t just hear notes—they interpret meaning. As a teacher, I learned that listening deeply to students revealed their strengths and fears. In real estate, listening is just as critical. Sellers may say they want “the best price,” but sometimes what they really need is speed or peace of mind. Buyers might ask about a house, but their true concern may be schools, commute, or community. My background taught me to listen beyond the words—a skill that builds trust.
In music, one missed entrance can change everything. As a teacher, I guided students to understand timing, rhythm, and confidence under pressure. Real estate works the same way. Whether it’s knowing when to list in Bay Ridge, when to negotiate in Park Slope, or when to walk away, timing defines results. The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Real Deal all point to how timing shapes markets—and I see that play out every day in Brooklyn.
As a tenor, performance was about moving an audience. As a teacher, it was about inspiring growth. Today, my “performance” in real estate is about guiding clients with confidence, clarity, and care. From staging tips to pricing strategy, every step is designed to deliver not just results—but A Signature Experience.
Music taught me to use my voice. Teaching taught me to use it to serve others. Real estate allows me to combine both—using discipline, timing, and connection to help families make some of life’s biggest decisions.
And just as music connects people, I believe in using my platform to support causes that matter. My father passed away from dementia, and I proudly support CaringKind NYC, an organization dedicated to Alzheimer’s care and awareness.
